  • To get started with restylethis, just find the ‘re’ icon, which is usually at the top right of the page on any site that includes restylethis, and click it.
  • The restylethis toolbar will appear at the top of the page, and the control panel will display on the left.
  • You use the control panel to choose a theme for how you’d prefer websites to look.
  • We’ve already created themes for the colours and text settings that different groups of people have told us they prefer: people who want things to be Easier to read, people with ADHD, Aspergers, Dyslexia, or who want Hi Visibility text.
  • So say, for example, I’m someone who’s dyslexic and I wanted to see what themes are available that I might find useful.
  • I would just click on dyslexia…
  • … and immediately I’d see that the page to the right of the control panel has changed to show what websites would look like in the Dyslexia Blue theme, which is selected here.
  • I can scroll down and up the page to see if I like how the theme changes the way the page looks.
  • If that works for me, I could click on ‘Next’… Or I might want to try the other suggested themes to see if I prefer them…
  • Let’s try yellow…  Or green…
  • Let’s say that theme looks good to me now…  So I’m going to click on ‘Next’…
  • And now I have two options.  If I’m happy with that theme – if it has given me a better set of colours and text settings to view pages – I can click ‘Yes’.
  • Or I could click on ‘Modify’ to change something about the way the theme looks. You can find out how to do that in another video.
  • Here, I’ll just select ‘Yes’ because the theme is working well for me.
  • Then I have the option of renaming the theme to a name I prefer.
  • I have the option of storing it in the cloud, so I can use it on a computer, tablet or smartphone, or storing it just to use on this computer.
  • Another video will show you how to save the theme for use on any device.
  • For now I’m just going to save it on this computer… so I’m going to click on ‘Store on device’.
  • And that’s it!
  • The control panel disappears and now all of the site displays the way I want it.
  • So I can go to the Tour page, for example… and it’s in my colours.
  • Or I can go to the News page… And, again, everything is the way I want it.
  • And I can go to any site that has restylethis on it, and it will display using my theme.
  • So if I, say, put in richardengland.co.uk, which also has restylethis on it…
  • you can see that the site displays with my preferences there as well.
  • This will happen for any site with restylethis on it. As soon as I go to the site, the restylethis toolbar will appear and the site will display in the theme I’ve chosen. I don’t have to do a thing to make the site work the way I want it to.
  • And that’s all there is to getting going with restylethis.
  • Why not give it a try yourself now, by clicking on the ‘re’ icon at the top of any page?
  • Or watch the other videos on the ‘Tour’ page to find out more on how to customise themes so they work better for you, or how to store your themes online in the cloud so that you can always use them or whatever device you use – whether it’s a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone.
  • We hope you enjoy using restylethis… and please let us know what you think by giving us your feedback on our ‘Contact us’ page.
  • Thank you.

Modify theme transcript

  • If you find a restylethis theme that almost suits your preferences, but doesn’t quite, you can modify any aspect of the theme by following this demonstration.
  • Here I’m going to modify a hi-vizibility theme chosen for people with limited vision.
  • You can see the theme already in use on this page – the black background, bright yellow text and bright blue links.
  • So say I like this theme but would prefer the text to be white rather than yellow… and maybe I’d like the text size to be a touch larger…
  • To make these modifications click on ‘Display Control Panel’ from the restylethis toolbar.
  • As I’m already using a restylethis theme, I’ll go into ‘My themes’ in the control panel, to see my ‘Hi visibility Yellow on Black’ theme.
  • There is space for you to save many of the themes that are useful to you in ‘My themes’, and the top theme is always the theme that you are currently using to view sites.
  • For now, I’ll make sure the ‘Hi visibility yellow on black’ theme is selected, as this is the one I want to modify, and I’ll click on ‘Next’.
  • This brings up two options. An option to say you’re happy with the theme and want to continue, or an option to ‘Modify’ the theme.
  • That’s what we’ve come here to do, so I’ll click on ‘Modify’.
  • This brings up a customise screen showing all the settings I can change. There are settings for Colour, for Layout, for Pictures & Media, for Links, Font and Text Size and Spacing.
  • You’ll see that the settings for ‘Colour’ are already open showing two colour bars – one for background colour, and one for text colour.
  • If I knew the number of the exact background colour I was looking for, as some people who are dyslexic do, I could type it into the background box.
  • In this case I want to change the text colour, and I don’t know what the number for ‘white’ is. So I’ll click on the text colour bar, and it opens up to show me a whole range of colours.
  • I’ll click on a white colour… and I’ll check the page behind the Control Panel, which has changed to show what it would look like with this text colour.
  • That looks fine to me, so I’ll move on to modifying the text size by clicking on ‘Text Size & Spacing’.
  • This opens a screen showing a slider for available text sizes you can choose from smallest to largest, and a slide for text spacing from least spacing to most spacing.
  • I’ll choose a larger text size by dragging the slider to the right, to this size.
  • When I’ve finished dragging the slider, I’ll check the page behind the Control Panel, which has changed to show what it would look like with this text size.
  • This all now looks fine to me now so I’ll click on ‘Next>’ to save the theme.
  • I can now rename the theme to a name which makes sense to me – I’ll use “My HiViz Modified Theme”
  • Now I have the usual option to store it to use on any device – computer, tablet or smartphone, or store it just to use on this computer.
  • Another video will show you how to save the theme for use on any device.
  • For now I’m just going to use it on this computer… so I’m going to click on ‘Store on device’.
  • And that’s it!
  • The control panel disappears and now all restylethis sites now display in my modified theme.
  • Why not give it a try for yourself now, by clicking on the ‘re’ icon at the top of any page and customising a theme?
  • Or watch the other videos on the ‘Tour’ page to find out more on how to store your themes online in the cloud so that you can always use them on whatever device you use – whether it’s a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone.
  • We hope you enjoy using restylethis… and please let us know what you think of it by giving us your feedback on our ‘Contact us’ page.
  • Thank you.

Store theme transcript

  • Increasingly these days many people use multiple devices to browse the web. You may use a desktop at work, a tablet at home, and a smartphone when travelling.
  • So you’re likely to want to be able to use your restylethis themes on all of those devices, so websites that include restylethis display in your preferences whatever device you’re viewing them on.
  • restylethis allows you to do this by creating a user account to save your themes online ‘in the cloud’ and linking all the devices you use with that account.
  • Here I’ll demonstrate how to save my preferences from my Mac into a restyle user account, and how to log-in to that account to use those preferences on my iPad and iPhone.
  • So let’s start by creating a theme as usual…
  • I click on the ‘re’ in the top right of any page that includes restylethis, and I’ll select a group of themes in the restylethis Control Panel.
  • Here I’ll choose ADHD, and choose ‘ADHD White on Dark Grey’ and click ‘Next’.
  • I’m happy with this theme and don’t want to modify it, so I’ll click ‘Yes’…
  • And here we are at the usual page for storing themes.
  • I have the option to storing the theme just for use on this computer, or storing it for use on any device – computer, tablet or smartphone – by storing it in the cloud.
  • That’s what I want to do, so I’ll click ‘Store in cloud’.
  • Because I haven’t signed in to a restylethis user account yet, I’ll need to ‘Sign in’ with my username and password… Or, if I haven’t created a restylethis user account yet, I can ‘Sign up’ to store my themes.
  • I haven’t created an account yet, so I’ll click on ‘Sign up’
  • And now I’ll need to create a username and password for my restylethis cloud account.
  • We value the privacy and security of your preference information highly, so we ask that you create a username that doesn’t identify you – use a nickname that makes sense to you but that isn’t your full name. That way, it is impossible for anyone to connect your preferences with your identity so you can have complete privacy.
  • You can find out more about our privacy policy by clicking on the link on the screen.
  • I’ll choose ‘myaccount’ as my username, and ‘mypassword’ as my password. I’ll retype the password ‘mypassword’ again, and click on ‘Remember my username’ to keep signed-in to restylethis so changes I make to my account on my Mac can be easily stored in the cloud for use on my other devices.
  • And finally I’ll click on ‘Sign up’ to create my restylethis and store my theme in it.
  • And you’ll see that the ‘Sign in’ box has turned to ‘Sign out’. This lets me know that I’m signed in to restylethis.
  • And that’s all I have to do to create an account and save my theme to it.
  • Now say I want to use the same themes on my iPad. I’ll swap to my iPad and bring up any site with restylethis on it. I’ll go into Safari. And, here, I’ll use the restylethis support site.
  • I’ll click on the ‘re’ as usual, and display the control panel.
  • Now, rather than find a theme that I want and choose it, I’ll just click on ‘Sign in’ and enter my username and password from before. My username is: ‘myaccount.’ And my password is: ‘mypassword’.
  • I’ll click ‘Remember my username’ as before, to keep me signed-in so I can save any changes I make to my theme on my iPad in my restylethis cloud account.
  • And I’ll click ‘Sign in’…
  • And that’s it – you’ll see that restylethis on my iPad is using the same ADHD Grey preferences I saved on my Mac.
  • And I can do exactly the same simple thing to get my theme onto my iPhone. I’ll swap to my iPhone and bring up any site with restylethis on it. Here I’ll use the restylethis support site again.
  • I’ll click on the ‘re’ as usual, and it will display the control panel.
  • I’ll click on ‘Sign in’ as I did on my iPad. I’ll put in my username ‘myaccount’ and my password ‘mypassword’.
  • Again, I’ll click ‘Remember my username’ and I’ll click ‘Sign in’…
  • And as you can see – immediately the whole site is using the same ADHD White on Grey preferences I saved on my Mac and am also using on my iPad.
  • Now whichever of my devices I choose to browse on, when I go to a website that includes restylethis it will immediately display in my preferred theme.
  • We hope you enjoy using restylethis… and please let us know what you think by giving us your feedback on our ‘Contact us’ page.
  • Thank you.
